Job description

Trainee CAD Designer | Carterton | Full Time | Entry Level | £20,000 - £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Our client specialises in the manufacture of premium aluminium gates and the installation of residential and commercial automation. They design, build, install and maintain electric gates, entry systems, bollards, barriers and other automation products. They pride themselves on the quality of their work and the satisfaction of their customers.

They are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee CAD Designer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for design and engineering and a willingness to learn in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

As a Trainee CAD Designer, you will play a key role in transforming design specifications into precise technical drawings that guide our fabricators. You’ll work closely with customers and the manufacturing team to bring custom aluminium gate designs to life, and ensure a high quality product is delivered to the customer.

Are you the right person for the job?

A keen eye for detail and a good understanding of geometry and spatial reasoning

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Willingness to learn and develop technical skills on the job

Interest in engineering, manufacturing, or design is a plus

Personable and professional when communicating with or meeting customers

What will your role look like?

Create detailed CAD drawings of aluminium gates based on design specifications using Autodesk Fusion360

Modify and update existing drawings as required

Collaborate with the production team to ensure designs are accurate and manufacturable

Maintain organised records of drawings and design revisions

Learn and apply relevant industry standards and materials knowledge

Develop designs for new components from concept to completion

Communicate effectively with customers to ensure the final product meets their expectations

Manage time efficiently across multiple orders to meet all deadlines

Create CNC machine programs using Autodesk Fusion360

Operate CNC machines as needed
