Job summary
Proftech Talent is seeking a motivated Trainee Auto Electrical Engineer for a permanent role based in Shenstone, Lichfield. You will join an experienced service team and receive comprehensive training to learn how to install, repair and maintain aftermarket electrical systems on vehicles and large plant equipment.
The position requires relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 diplomas or a T Level) and a full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
- Completed a relevant course/qualification such as Level 2 Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles.
- Level 2 Diploma in Auto Electrical and Mobile Electrical Competence.
- Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
- T Level in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair and maintain aftermarket safety and security systems on small commercial vehicles and large plant.
- Run tests on electrical components to ensure safe and effective installation.
- Inspect electrical systems and equipment for damage, malfunctions and hazards.
- Report faults and liaise with customers as needed.
- Carry out vehicle inspections and assess/remove damaged components.
- Install new components and test electrical systems after installation.
- Run diagnostics to determine faults and repair accordingly.

As a Trainee Auto Electrical Engineer you will need to have/be:

- A full and clean UK driving licence as you will be required to travel with the role
Salary: £19, 474 - £24, 000 (Salary will be dependent on age and experience, in line with the applicable pay structure)
Working Hours: Full time Monday - Friday, hours will vary depending on travel time and location

You will work towards carrying out the following duties independently:
- Install, repair and maintain aftermarket safety and security systems on both small commercial vehicles and large plant
- Run tests on electrical components to ensure a safe and effective installation
- Inspect electrical systems and equipment for any damage, malfunctions, and safety hazards
- Report faults as found and liaise with customers when necessary
- Carry out vehicle inspections
- Assess and remove damaged components
- Install new components
- Test electrical components installed on the vehicle
- Run diagnostics on vehicles to determine faults
- Remove and refit vehicle trim and components
