MTR Partnership is seeking a Trainee/Assistant Quantity Surveyor in North Yorkshire. You will join a focused commercial team supporting residential developments and gain hands-on experience across the commercial lifecycle.

Ideal candidates are recent graduates or those moving into the field, with a genuine interest in construction, a relevant QS/Commercial Management qualification, strong numeracy and communication skills, and a willingness to learn.

Responsabilités

• Assist with the commercial management of residential construction projects from inception through to completion.
• Support the preparation and analysis of subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Assist with procurement of subcontractors, materials and services.
• Prepare and review subcontractor orders and ensure costs are recorded accurately.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and expenditure.
• Assist with the preparation of cost reports, valuations and forecasts.
• Review subcontractor applications for payment and assist with payment assessments.
• Identify potential cost savings and commercial opportunities.
• Coordinate with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain accurate commercial records and support final accounts.

The Role

As a Trainee / Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in managing the financial aspects of residential developments, with responsibilities including:

• Assisting with the commercial management of residential construction projects from inception through to completion.
• Supporting the preparation and analysis of subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Assisting with the procurement of subcontractors, materials and services.
• Preparing and reviewing subcontractor orders and ensuring costs are accurately recorded.
• Monitoring project costs, budgets and expenditure.
• Assisting with the preparation of cost reports, valuations and financial forecasts.
• Reviewing subcontractor applications for payment and assisting with payment assessments.
• Helping to identify potential cost savings and commercial opportunities.
• Liaising with site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered efficiently.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and supporting the preparation of final accounts.

The Candidate

We are keen to hear from candidates who are enthusiastic about developing a career in quantity surveying and commercial management.

You may be a recent graduate, college leaver or someone already working within construction who is looking to move into a commercial role.

Ideally, you will have:

• A genuine interest in construction, residential development and commercial management.
• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, or be working towards one.
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with colleagues, subcontractors and suppliers.
• A proactive approach, with a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A full UK driving licence, or the ability to travel to sites across North Yorkshire, would be advantageous.

Previous experience in a construction or commercial environment would be beneficial, but attitude, potential and a willingness to learn are equally important.
