A unique opportunity has arisen for two Trainee Assistant Planner posts who, whilst working for Glasgow City Council, will contribute to the delivery of the statutory Planning service and to the design and improvement of places in Glasgow, delivering improved outcomes for health and well-being, and the environment whilst studying for a BSc in Town Planning at the University of West of Scotland (UWS) on a part-time basis. This will allow you to develop your skills and experience with a varying and dynamic workload whilst studying. This will give you an opportunity to apply for any suitable advertised roles following the completion of your degree.

You will also assist the public with planning enquiries by telephone, writing or face-to-face and provide a customer orientated ethos within the operation of the Planning service and contribute to the delivery of the planning authority’s Improvement Plan.

For these roles, you need to have 4 Highers graded BCCC including National 5 Maths and English (Grade B, or above). It is desirable to have a full current UK driving licence. You should have IT skills and good written and oral communication skills. You will need to have the ability to work collaboratively. You require to live in a G postcode to apply for these roles.

The expected attendance at university is one day per week for Terms 1 and 2. You will be required to participate in the formal courses and exams / assessments as required in the course outcomes for the BSc in Town Planning. More details of the course can be found at UWS Town Planning.

This post is fixed term to 30 June 2029.
