Job summary

Mitie Group in Croydon is seeking a Trainee Asbestos Consultant to develop the skills, experience and qualifications to carry out asbestos consultancy services, including surveys, supervision of removal contracts and clearance work.

You will follow a comprehensive training pathway, shadow experienced colleagues, and work towards industry certificates (P402, P403, P404) while earning a Real Living Wage. The role is 40 hours per week with on-site responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Will be trained to gain P402, P403 and P404 certificates.
• Training follows the Asbestos Quality and Procedures Manual.
• Salary paid at Real Living Wage.

Responsibilities

• Shadow on site to gain relevant site experience and learn on the job.
• Gaining relevant asbestos qualifications and maintaining skills.
• Developing experience and sign-off to conduct asbestos surveys, bulk sampling and clearance works.
• Maintaining knowledge of asbestos, health and safety and CDM regulations while complying with procedures.
• Attending training courses and audits, with reports completed to required standards and timescales.

We're looking for a Trainee Asbestos Consultant who will develop the necessary skills, experience and qualifications to, over time, carry out specific or the full range of asbestos consultancy services, including all types of survey, supervision of removal contracts, associated clearance work, preparation and technical review of reports.

Role Responsibilities:

• Developing relevant site experience, first through shadowing activities, and then by acting as a second person on site.
• Gaining relevant asbestos qualifications and maintaining skill sets on the asbestos skills matrix.
• Developing experience and eventual sign-off to conduct asbestos surveys, bulk sampling and assessment, statutory reinspection, airborne fibre monitoring, fibre counting and clearance works, as applicable.
• Gaining and maintaining knowledge of all current asbestos, health and safety and CDM regulations, whilst ensuring asbestos-related work is carried out in accordance with company procedures and documentation.
• Attending training courses, operational team meetings and participating in internal and external audit programmes, whilst ensuring reports are completed to the required standard and within agreed timescales.

Required Qualifications:

• Will be trained and given the opportunity to gain the P402, P403 and P404 certificates as applicable.
• Training will follow the programmes set out in the Asbestos Quality and Procedures Manual.
• Salary will be Real Living Wage.
