Job description

Role Overview

The role of Advanced Practitioner is a significant development within the Scottish Ambulance Service, offering excellent career progression opportunities in a clinical setting. We are currently accepting applications for Paramedics to become Trainee Advanced Practitioners (Urgent & Primary Care).

This role allows you to join our expanding team of Advanced Practitioners within SAS and build on the success of the Advanced Practice programme.

Responsibilities
  • Providing high-level, independent decision-making including assessment, diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients with complex needs.
  • Working within a rotational model in primary care and Out of Hours services.
  • Providing virtual patient consultations, professional support to clinicians, and responding on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
  • Contributing to service-wide audits, research, training, and education.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • HCPC registered Paramedics eligible for PGDip Advanced Practice.
  • Demonstrable clinical practice experience in primary/urgent/emergency care.
  • Full UK manual driving license and successful completion of FutureQuals Emergency Response Driver Training.
Training and Salary

Successful applicants will undertake a fully funded Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice, including non-medical prescribing, over approximately 30 months. Salaries during training are a percentage of Band 7, increasing upon qualification.

Additional Information

Applicants should read all supporting documentation and complete a reflective learning statement. Support from current line managers is required. External candidates must pass a fitness test. Interviews are scheduled for June 2025. Drop-in sessions will be held in May 2025 via Teams to answer questions.
