Job Title: Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Integrated Urgent Care (2 posts available)

Contract: Full-Time 37.5 hours with ACP programme at York University

Job Summary:

Who Should Apply?

• Registered Nurses, Paramedics, or Physiotherapists with a strong interest in urgent or primary care and who are able to prescribe
• Practitioners with at least three years of post-registration or comparable experience
• Practitioners ready to work across professional boundaries and contribute to a dynamic, multidisciplinary team

Main duties of the job

As a Trainee ACP, you will:

• Deliver patient care in urgent and unscheduled settings under direct or indirect clinical supervision
• Ideally already practiced in independent prescribing, however, this can be incorporated into the ACP course, and you must meet the entry requirements for this module as prescribing is a requirement of the role.
• Complete the MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice at the University of York (part-time)
• Rotate through diverse clinical settings such as:
• Clinical Assessment Service (CAS)
• Same Day Urgent Care Clinics

Job Summary: The post holder will work under direct or indirect supervision as a trainee advanced clinical practitioner, delivering high-quality care, making clinical decisions based on advanced skills, and developing across all four pillars of advanced clinical practice: research, leadership, clinical practice, and education, as outlined by Health Education England (2017).

The post holder will build evidence across these pillars, provide clinical leadership and support to the practitioner workforce, nursing, and allied health teams to improve patient experience, and support service delivery with innovation and ongoing clinical care, ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time.

Key Relationships: Directors of service, Advanced Practice lead, GPs, Associate Director of Governance and Quality Assurance, Nurse Consultant, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Practitioners

Core Responsibilities:

The trainee clinical practitioner will:

• Manage comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, provide differential diagnoses, and determine appropriate treatments for complex patients.
• Prescribe medication independently as appropriate, order investigations, interpret X-rays for UTC, and refer to other professionals within clinical guidelines.
• Identify areas for improvement, lead on policy and service redesign, and support implementation of new practices.
• Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and guidance to staff within the area of responsibility.
• Demonstrate proficiency across all aspects of the patient pathway to become an advanced clinical practitioner.
• Travel across sites for clinical and supervisory duties as required.

Person Specification

Skills and Knowledge

• Recognised professional qualification enabling registration with a healthcare regulatory body.
• Post-registration experience of at least 3 years in the clinical area.
• Strong leadership and IT skills.
• Knowledge of Nimbuscare values and advanced practice strategies.
• Ability to problem-solve, analyse, and interpret complex information with support.
• Experience in mentoring, research, audit, and service evaluation.

Salary: £48,055 to £54,991 during training & £55,976 to £63,004 once qualified
