Salary: £24,984 - £45,696

We are the fourth largest local authority in Scotland, responsible for providing essential public services to the people of North Lanarkshire. The Finance service supports the delivery of the council's priority outcomes to meet the challenging needs of our communities.

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual with the determination to succeed to join our Trainee Accountant Programme. The training program lasts approximately three years and aims to provide trainees with relevant training and experience in all aspects of the modern financial and accounting environment. Trainees will work within various Finance teams, learning the business from the ground up to contribute effectively in helping the Council deliver its services.

We have been awarded Best Practice Employer accreditation for our Trainee Accountant Programme and are committed to supporting the successful applicant to progress through the CIPFA Professional Accountancy Qualification (PAQ).

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educated to Degree Level (or equivalent) or fully AAT qualified
  • Numerically competent, enthusiastic, confident, and outgoing
  • Ability to research and analyze information
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload and training commitments
  • Ability to produce well-structured and logical written documentation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or within a team

Progression salary depends on successful completion of stages of the CIPFA PAQ.

This post is temporary until 31/12/2028.
