We are a growing and forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Cannock, providing a range of accounting and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients.
The practice has grown significantly since being established, developing from a small team into an established business with multiple offices following recent acquisitions.

Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate or ambitious individual looking to begin their career within accountancy practice.
The successful candidate will ideally be degree educated and looking to build a long-term career within accountancy. Previous accountancy practice experience is not essential, as the business is specifically looking for someone they can train and develop from the ground up.
You will receive hands-on training and support from experienced members of the team, gradually taking on more responsibility as your technical knowledge and confidence develop.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountancy Support: Assist the wider team with a variety of day-to-day accounting tasks while developing your understanding of practice-based accountancy.
• Accounts Preparation: Gain practical experience assisting with the preparation of accounts for a range of small and medium-sized businesses.
• Bookkeeping & VAT: Develop an understanding of bookkeeping processes, VAT returns and general accounting procedures.
• Tax Exposure: Gain exposure to personal and business tax work as your knowledge and experience develops.
• Client Support: Assist with client queries and develop the confidence and communication skills required to build strong professional relationships.
• Learning & Development: Work closely with experienced accountants, taking guidance and learning new processes and accounting principles.
• Professional Development: Take on increasing responsibility as your skills develop, with the opportunity to progress within the practice over the long term.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: Degree educated, ideally in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Business or another relevant subject.
• Experience: Little or no previous accountancy practice experience is required. Previous finance, administration or office experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Qualifications: An interest in pursuing AAT, ACCA or another relevant professional accountancy qualification would be beneficial.
• Technical Skills: Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability and willingness to learn new accounting software.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
• Academic Ability: Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand and work with numerical information.
• Personality: Reliable, hardworking and personable, with a genuine willingness to learn.
• Career Ambition: Looking to establish a long-term career within accountancy and progress within a practice environment.

Working Hours & Flexible Setup

• Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
• Office-Based: The role is fully office-based, Monday to Friday.
• Core Hours: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday to Thursday and 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM Friday.
• Flexi-Time: Following the initial probationary period, employees can choose their start and finish times outside of the core hours, provided they complete 37.5 hours per week.
• Training Period: The successful candidate will initially work closely with the team in the office to support their development and training.
