Pro Talent in Eastbourne is seeking a Trainee or Semi-Senior Accountant to work across accounts, tax and bookkeeping, not just one client type. The role offers full study support and early client contact, with immediate start and an on-site office in Eastbourne.

You should have around 18 months’ experience in a UK practice and be aiming to progress toward ACCA/ACA while you learn. A broad grounding is valued over early specialization.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified or part qualified, or early in ACCA or ACA.
• Around 18 months or more in a UK accountancy practice.
• Comfortable progressing toward partner review standards without step-by-step instruction.
• Interested in a broad grounding rather than an early specialist path.
• Qualified by experience and open to conversation if studying status changes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Handle self assessment and corporation tax returns.
• Do monthly and quarterly bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT returns.
• Communicate with clients directly on day-to-day queries.
• As you progress, support junior staff and review their work.

Trainee / Semi-Senior Accountant | Eastbourne | From £26,000 | Full study support

Most trainee roles give you one corner of the job. This one gives you the whole thing.

An independent accountancy practice in Eastbourne is looking for a Trainee or Semi-Senior Accountant to join their team. You'd be working across accounts, personal and corporate tax, and bookkeeping, rather than sitting on one client type for two years. They'll fund your studies and give you the time to do them properly.

This isn't a first job in practice. You'll need around 18 months behind you, so you already know your way around a set of accounts and a tax return. What it is, is the role where you go from doing the work to owning it.

What you'll be doing:

• Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Self assessment and corporation tax returns
• Monthly and quarterly bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT returns
• Working across Sage, Xero, QuickBooks and Excel
• Speaking to clients yourself on day to day queries
• As you progress, checking work from the more junior members of the team

Who it suits:

• AAT qualified or part qualified, or early in ACCA or ACA
• Around 18 months or more in a UK accountancy practice
• Comfortable getting a job to partner review standard without being walked through every step
• Someone who wants a broad grounding rather than an early specialism
