Job Description:

We are seeking a Trainee Accountant to join a dynamic accounting team based in Stockton Heath. This is a full-time (37 hours per week), hybrid role with flexible hours. Core working hours are from 9:30 to 3:00, with the rest of the hours flexible around you. Initially, you will work 3 days in the office per week for the first two months, reducing to 2 days afterward.

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours/week, flexible around 9:30 am–3 pm core hours

Location: Hybrid – Stockton Heath office 2 days a week (initially 3)

Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities:

• Preparing year-end accounts and tax computations to draft stage and addressing review points
• Drafting personal tax returns
• Performing daily bookkeeping and maintaining accurate client records
• Preparing VAT returns and management accounts to draft stage
• Supporting managers with client queries and ad hoc tasks
• Participating in quarterly client catch-ups, building relationships, and offering insights

Candidate Requirements:

• 0–4 years of accounting experience
• AAT Level 2, 3, or 4, or working towards it
• Curious, eager to learn, and passionate about accounting
• Ability to explain financial information clearly and understandably
• Team-oriented and committed to making a difference for clients
