Your future role

Take on a new challenge in Derby and apply your Train System Engineering expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Head of External Subsystems, and work alongside a dedicated and passionate Engineering team in Alstom UK&I.

Working in multi-disciplined teams and collaborating across the Engineering team and with wider stakeholders, you will own the development of Train level brakes specifications utilising existing solutions from Alstom portfolio and identifying any developments required from utilising your previous brake system experience. You will lead activities throughout the project V-Cycle with a QDC mindset to define and deliver the required performance through verification and validation.

We’ll look to you for:

•Identify potential brake solutions from higher level and broader overall train requirements.

•Identify where solutions from an existing Alstom portfolio can fit in to leverage volume benefits and world-wide relations with the supply base.

•Identify functional and interface requirements, identify all participants, and achieve common and full understanding of requirements and solutions.

•Support verification of equipment and assembly for first in class.

•Identify how requirements can be verified through the V cycle including multiple layers of calculation, modelling, static and on track testing.

•Report verification data to demonstrate compliance to standards to approvals bodies and customers.

•Identify and resolve problems that arrive on initial operation whilst demonstrating an ethical and civic outlook.
