Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
  • Operate locomotives, including light engines and freight trains, prioritizing safety and following risk management protocols.
  • Comply with all rules and instructions, undergoing proficiency assessments to maintain competence.
  • Complete route and traction training, maintaining required competence levels.
  • Identify and report faults following proper procedures.
  • Represent the company professionally to customers in behavior and appearance.
  • Understand all notices and amendments affecting locomotives, trains, or routes.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with controllers, line managers, signallers, and customer representatives.
  • Ensure safety for oneself and others by remaining vigilant and prepared for duty.
Skills and Experience
Essential
  • European Train Driving License
  • Clean safety record
  • Full, manual UK drivers license
  • Reside within 45 minutes of the depot
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of rail industry rules and regulations
Desirable
  • Experience with iPads and digital technologies
