Train Cleaning Team Leader

Night Shift Role

Based in Newcastle

6-month initial contract with the possibility to join on a permanent basis

£14.80p/h

Ganymede Solutions is working with one of the largest UK Train Operating Companies (currently operating 464 stations, the most of any TOC in the UK), who are seeking to recruit a Train Cleaning Team Leader to join the train cleaning team based at Heaton Depot, Newcastle. Ganymede Solutions is a stock market-recognised recruitment agency, specialising in transportation, infrastructure, construction, and engineering sectors on both permanent and contract basis.

The company covers the North, including the Northeast & West of England, Yorkshire, Humber, and parts of the East Midlands and Staffordshire. They have a large fleet of trains—333 in total—so expect an active and busy role!

Ganymede is looking to hire someone with a proactive attitude who can lead by example and isn't afraid to get involved.

The Role:

The position involves leading a team of up to 4 operatives in train cleaning, issuing jobs, conducting audits, and liaising with the Train Presentation Supervisor.

Standard duties include interior cleaning, vacuuming floors, inspecting and maintaining toilets, etc. The ideal candidate will lead from the front and set an example for the team.

The focus is on full and deep cleaning, covering all areas inside and outside of public view.

The Hours:

Flexible shift pattern: 20:00 - 06:00, on a 4 on 4 off rota.

Requirements:

  • Ability to commute to Leeds for a 2/3-day training course starting 07/07/2025
  • Pass a Drugs & Alcohol test
  • Pass a full rail medical (vision, hearing, color vision, heart, lungs, neurological health)
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office, Email)
  • Previous supervisory or team lead experience (rail experience not required)
  • Provide Right to Work documents before deployment
  • Positive, helpful attitude
  • Good physical fitness, as the role is hands-on and involves being on your feet most of the shift
