Job summary

DFDS in Felixstowe is seeking a hands-on Trailer Fitter to maintain and move trailers, ensuring they are serviced, compliant and ready for operation in our fast-paced logistics environment.

This role blends workshop duties with admin tasks and requires availability for day, evening, and potential night shifts, with shift allowance and overtime. You will service, repair, and refuel refrigerated trailers while supporting cross-docking to keep goods moving.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering background required.
• Experience in trailer maintenance preferred.
• Willingness to work varied shifts including evenings and nights.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining, and repairing trailers to ensure roadworthiness.
• Supporting cross-docking operations to aid efficient movement of goods.
• Completing administration accurately and logging work in relevant systems.

About The Role

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on individual to join our Trailer Workshop supporting the day-to-day maintenance and movement of trailers. This role combines practical workshop duties with administrative responsibilities, ensuring trailers are serviced, compliant, and ready for use in a fast-paced logistics environment. This role requires you to work a varied shift pattern, which will include days, evenings and potential nights - shift allowance and over time available.

• Servicing, maintaining, and carrying out repairs on trailers to ensure they remain safe and roadworthy
• Supporting occasional cross-docking operations to assist with the efficient movement of goods
• Completing all required administration accurately, ensuring work is recorded, processed, and booked out on relevant systems
• Refuelling refrigerated trailers and monitoring fuel levels to maintain temperature-controlled operations
• Working closely with the wider team to ensure minimal downtime and smooth daily operations

About You

You have an engineering background and bring a practical, hands-on approach to your work. You’re a reliable team player with a positive, can-do attitude, who takes pride in working hard and getting the job done right. Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, you’re adaptable, motivated, and willing to step in wherever needed to support smooth day-to-day operations.
