Job summary

SWARCO UK & Ireland seeks a hands-on Trainee Installer / Installer to install, refurbish, repair and commission traffic signals and urban traffic technology across customer sites in Glasgow. The role is hybrid, full-time, with on-site and field duties and requires a UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.

You will deliver high-quality installations, ensure safety and on-time delivery, and collaborate with project teams to meet customer requirements and project scope.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent.
• Basic electrical knowledge.
• Basic understanding of traffic signal installation and theory, including phases, stages and detection.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Good safety awareness.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Right to live and work in the UK.
• Previous experience working on traffic signal installations or similar electrical infrastructure.
• Sector 8 accreditation, including NRSWA, G39 and ECS qualifications.
• Experience in highways, ITS or related infrastructure sectors.

Responsibilities

• Installing and commissioning traffic signals and urban traffic technology.
• Delivering installation projects safely, on time and to required quality standards.
• Taking ownership of work on site and handing over to customers.
• Working with project teams to report changes to scope.
• Maintaining vehicles, tools, PPE and documentation.
• Representing SWARCO professionally with customers and stakeholders.
