Traffic signals make up a vital part of our vast operational roadside technology assets, which are crucial to maintaining a safe and reliable road network and improving the customer experience. As a Traffic Signal Incident Specialist, you will be a 'go-to' point of contact and systems expert in the TOC, leading and co-ordinating responses to technology incidents related to traffic signal faults using the YUNEX UTC system.

In this newly created role (which will be known internally as a UTC Incident Specialist), you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the incident management process for traffic signal faults, using specialist knowledge of the service and the software tool Yunex UTC.
  • Investigating and determining appropriate actions for traffic signals faults, including remotely resolving faults where possible.
  • Using the UTC System to determine root causes and appropriate actions for complex, reoccurring, and intermittent faults.
  • Providing specialist advice to colleagues in the Technology Operations Centre and being the escalation point for traffic signals faults and issues.
  • Developing and supporting the wider team in building knowledge and understanding of traffic signal faults, including use of UTC and other tools e.g. Stratos.

About you.

  • Excellent understanding and experience of monitoring, reporting and managing traffic signal faults and how they are resolved
  • Strong knowledge and experience of working with traffic control incident systems; experience of using YUNEX UTC system is essential.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with other stakeholders (e.g. traffic signal contractors) to resolve technology faults
  • Ability to translate and communicate accurate information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders / users
  • Proven ability in developing and maintaining processes and procedures.
