You’ll help ensure safe access and egress for passengers, colleagues and service partners while delivering excellent customer service.

You’ll be responsible for helping to maintain the continuous flow of traffic across Manchester Airport’s road network, forecourts and car parks, proactively responding to congestion and other issues that could disrupt airport operations.

You’ll work across a variety of Traffic Marshall duties, including the Taxi Feeder Park, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 forecourts, the Ground Transport Interchange and Mobile Patrols, giving you plenty of variety throughout your working week.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Taxi Feeder Park – Managing the airport’s taxi management operational system and ensuring the hackney trade operates in accordance with the Airport Code of Conduct and relevant Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Ground Transport Interchange – Supporting the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and passengers and assisting customers with general enquiries.
  • Mobile Patrols – Patrolling designated landside areas across the airport, identifying and addressing issues that could disrupt traffic flow or create safety or security concerns.
  • Providing assistance, information and support to passengers and acting as an ambassador for Manchester Airport.
  • Working closely with colleagues across Landside Operations, including Car Park Operations and Customer Transport Operations.
  • Proactively managing vehicles stopped or parked in unauthorised areas, including vehicles blocking entrances, bus lanes or other operational areas.
  • Supporting customers who may be upset or frustrated, using empathy, professionalism and effective conflict-management skills to help resolve situations.
  • Identifying and reporting potential safety or security concerns through the appropriate channels and, where necessary, working with Greater Manchester Police and Landside Management.
  • Supporting traffic management and diversions during busy periods, operational disruption or emergency situations.
  • Helping to maintain a safe and secure airport environment by identifying and reporting hazards or irregularities.
What will make you successful in the role?

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people and can remain calm and professional in a busy operational environment.

To be successful, you’ll need:

  • Strong customer service experience and a genuine commitment to delivering a positive customer experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict-management skills, particularly when dealing with challenging situations.
  • The confidence to use your own initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and resolving traffic-management issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and other airport partners.
  • The ability to work accurately and make appropriate decisions under pressure.
  • The flexibility to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • The ability to work a rotating shift pattern covering both days and nights.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A full UK manual driving licence – essential.
  • Basic IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office platforms.
