About

Description

As an experienced Traffic Management Operative, you will work on Traffic Management Schemes for various projects, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently to maximize productivity while maintaining high Health and Safety standards. Flexibility is required due to the nature of the role, including working days, nights, and some weekends. A responsible, can-do attitude is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all traffic management methods: Give and take, Priority, Stop/Go boards, Portable traffic signals, Convoy working, Road closures, Lane closures, and diversions.
  • Ensure all work complies with safe working methods and best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments and prepare method statements for traffic management activities.
  • Carry out activities according to established procedures, identify areas for improvement, and report to your line manager.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks to ensure cleanliness, safety, and tidiness.
  • Promote a positive company image through attire, attitude, and site cleanliness.
  • Show initiative by seeking continuous improvements.
  • Assist the public by directing them through safe site lines when required.
  • Determine when management intervention is necessary.

GTM Golden Rules

  • Only undertake Traffic Management activities for which you are qualified (LANTRA).
  • Ensure all setups comply with guidance and legislation (Red Book, Chapter 8, ARTSM, etc.).
  • Regularly check sites for compliance.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions and rectify them if safe to do so.
  • Drive safely, avoid distractions, adhere to speed limits, and drive with due care.
  • Park vehicles safely, considering public and road user safety.
  • Wear five-point PPE at all times on site.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Lantra 12d accreditation (minimum TTMBC, 12d M1-M2).
  • Lantra 12a/b accreditation, IPV driver, and foreman experience are advantageous.
  • Understanding of Chapter 8 and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works (Red Book) and their applications.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings related to work.
  • Mechanical ability related to Traffic Lights is preferable.
