Traffic Engineer needed in Hackney, £20.86ph PAYE - Reference: RQ1512011
We are currently looking for an Electric Vehicle Traffic Engineer to join our Design & Engineering team.
You will help to deliver one of the country’s biggest expansions of electric vehicle (EV) charging points, which will see 3,000 chargers on the borough’s streets by 2030. Providing the right mix of infrastructure will help meet the Council’s ambitious plans to encourage a 90% take up of electric vehicles in Hackney by 2030 supporting our aims to become a net zero carbon borough by 2040. Your role mainly involves dealing with the installation of electric vehicle charging schemes in the borough on lamp columns, fast and rapid chargers on the public highway, estate chargers in our Hackney Housing across the borough and also being involved in designing a variety of minor traffic engineering schemes.
You will be responsible for conducting consultations, reviewing electric vehicle (EV) plans, and preparing traffic management orders. You will manage the implementation of EV sites and maintain records of completed projects. Additionally, you will liaise with both external and internal stakeholders, work collaboratively as part of a team, and assist Senior Traffic Engineers in various phases, including concept development, feasibility studies, preliminary design, consultation, detailed design, and ultimately, the implementation of multi-modal or mode-specific traffic engineering schemes, urban realm improvements, and public transport enhancements.
The role will also support the delivery of statutory and legal obligations related to transportation in a politically sensitive and customer-focused manner.
You will ideally have post-qualification experience in Civil Engineering and experience in Traffic Management and Road Safety Engineering schemes.
This is a full-time role on a temporary contract basis.
