Job description

TRAFFIC DISPATCHER

Hours 37.5 - M-F: 0800 - 1600

A quick look at the role.

The Traffic Dispatcher is responsible for managing the day-to-day organisation of operations in the depot through the allocation and basic routing of vehicles. You will ensure best-in-class service delivery to customers, maintain health & safety standards, and ensure environmental and O licence compliance.

Your Core Responsibilities

  1. Manage operational staff daily to achieve excellent service delivery.
  2. Optimize route efficiency and utilize disposal outlets effectively to ensure proper use of vehicles and facilities.
  3. Manage driver availability and coverage according to legislation and company procedures to ensure continuous operation.
  4. Perform administrative duties including inputting pay, bonuses, and disposal information into company systems.
  5. Proactively manage vehicles, liaising with the fleet team, ensuring safe vehicle operations, wheel security, and monitoring vehicle weights.
  6. Supervise daily vehicle availability and ensure drivers complete their checks per company policy.
  7. Contribute to cost control by analyzing depot reports and seeking efficiency improvements.
  8. Complete all administrative tasks related to the Dispatch office, including timesheets, tachograph records, payroll, holiday rotas, and QLS resolution.
  9. Work with the Depot Manager to ensure delivery of mandatory training, inductions, and toolbox talks in line with company policy.
