Job summary

EDF Energy Limited is seeking a Traffic Coordinator for the Sizewell C project in the UK. The role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient movement of vehicles, plant, and people on site, managing gate operations, haul routes, and access control to support Enabling & Earthworks.

You will develop traffic plans with the digital team, coordinate with subcontractors, and maintain KPI records. The position requires practical knowledge of DMS, Excel logs, and strong coordination with earthworks teams

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of construction traffic management.
  • Experience coordinating traffic or site logistics on major civil projects.
  • Confident communicator with supervisors and drivers.
  • Ability to use DMSs and MS Excel for logs and KPIs.
  • Experience managing gatehouse/access operations.

  • Collate traffic management requests from subcontractors for client advice.
  • Ensure compliance from subcontractors and TM planning for the Main Construction Area.
  • Direct traffic marshals/banksperson and enforce safety protocols.
  • Sequence inbound HGVs and plant moves using the Delivery Management System (DMS).
  • Coordinate with Rail/Import and Materials teams for offloading slots.
  • Track KPIs and produce daily/weekly traffic reports.

Traffic Coordinator

The Traffic Coordinator will ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of vehicles, plant, and people, supporting the Enabling & Earthworks scope.

The role will manage gate operations, haul routes, access control, delivery sequencing, and traffic marshalling to maintain flow, minimize interface risks with earthworks activities, and protect critical path operations across the Sizewell C project.

Key Responsibilities
Traffic & Access Control
  • Manage internal traffic flows on haul roads, laydown areas, & construction zones.
  • Collate traffic management requests from subcontractors to advise client as & when required of changes.
  • Ensure compliance from subcontractors & CWA teams for TM requests & planning for the Main Construction Area.
  • Direct & brief traffic marshals/banksperson to maintain safe movements around workfaces, compounds, & pedestrian interfaces.
  • Enforce one-way systems, speed limits, segregation, & exclusion zones.
Delivery Sequencing & Logistics Integration
  • Sequence inbound HGVs & plant moves with the Delivery Management System (DMS) to prevent bottlenecks, work with subcontractors & CWA teams for high volume deliveries.
  • Coordinate with Rail/Import & Materials teams to align offloading slots, crane/plant availability, & laydown capacity.
  • Liaise with Earthworks supervisors to avoid clashes between haul traffic & excavation/compaction activities.
  • Support abnormal load movements, escort planning, & safe route clearances.
  • Contribute to short interval control and daily/weekly logistics coordination meetings.
  • Issue daily traffic plans & shift briefings to marshals, drivers, & supervisors.
  • Check & control traffic related permit to work, plant movement plans, & lifting interface points.
  • Monitor WIP areas that impact traffic & implement mitigations.
  • Work with digital team to create traffic management plans/flows & controls.
Compliance, Safety & Reporting
  • Ensure adherence to the project's HSE standards, life‑saving rules, & PPE requirements
  • Maintain records for vehicle checks, driver inductions, banksman authorisations, & competency cards.
  • Conduct point of work risk assessments and dynamic traffic risk reviews during changing conditions.
  • Record, elevate, and help investigate traffic related near misses, incidents, or road damage; implement corrective actions.
  • Track KPIs and produce daily/weekly reports.
Qualifications
Experience
  • Strong understanding of construction traffic management, plant movements, and interface controls with earthworks.
  • Confident communicator with supervisors, drivers, and multiple subcontractors.
  • Ability to use DMSs and MS Excel for logs and KPIs.
  • Experience coordinating traffic or site logistics on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience running gatehouse/access operations and managing traffic marshal/banksperson.
