Are you organised and proactive with a knack for planning? Do you have experience in traffic management and logistics? At Anglian Water, we’re looking for a Traffic Controller to meticulously plan and control our LGV resources and equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring we respond efficiently to both routine and emergency tinkering, jetting, and sludge bulk/skip haulage requirements for our customers.

You’ll be playing a pivotal part in ensuring we effectively transport water recycling by-products around the region from treatment centres to be sold as fertiliser products to farmers whilst also protecting the environment by playing a huge role in helping to minimise the risk of flooding and pollution by proactively jetting our sewers and drains to both prevent and clear blockages.

What does it take to be an Anglian Water Traffic Controller?

The ideal candidate will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, along with the following attributes:

  1. Excellent IT skills: Experience with Microsoft Office suite is essential & any use of a CRM or Database system would transfer across well
  2. Strong communication skills: Both verbal and written
  3. Attention to Detail: A high level of attention to detail is necessary for this fast-paced and important role.
  4. Resilience: The ability to challenge and question stakeholders effectively.
  5. Experience: Previous traffic controller or general logistics experience is highly desirable, though not essential as full training will be provided.
Your role will involve:
  1. Planning: Develop and manage the weekly workload for routine and non-routine sludge haulage operations.
  2. Coordination: Liaise with drivers and contractors, maintain driver availability information, and ensure daily sickness is recorded.
  3. Compliance: Instruct drivers to follow all procedures and legislation, particularly regarding operators' licenses, planning, scheduling, control, fleet, and record keeping.
  4. Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure vehicles and trailers, including hired ones, are kept in a fit and serviceable condition, and record any unplanned vehicle downtime.
  5. Data Management: Accurately input load data information into the database in a timely manner.
