Job description

My client, a top-tier proprietary trading firm, is seeking a Trading Systems Operator to support a low-latency trading desk in London.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience operating and supporting Linux-based production systems, with strong Python and scripting skills used to automate operational workflows and tooling. While prior trading experience is not essential, a solid understanding of real-time, distributed systems and a strong interest in financial markets is key.

Sitting close to live trading, you will work alongside traders, software engineers, and network engineers to ensure the reliability and performance of latency-sensitive trading platforms. Your responsibilities will include incident response, root cause analysis, system upgrades, and continuous improvement of monitoring, logging, and alerting infrastructure.

You will be comfortable operating at the command line, troubleshooting issues under pressure, and debugging systems written in multiple programming languages. A strong grasp of networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, latency, packet loss) and experience working across multiple datacenters or environments will be critical to success.

This is a highly visible role within a fast-paced trading environment, offering direct exposure to live markets and production systems. The ideal candidate will be curious, detail-oriented, and driven to improve systems and processes through automation and technical rigor.
