Job summary

Stonehouse Recruitment is partnering with a London Local Authority to recruit an experienced Trading Standards Team Leader for an initial 3-month contract. You will lead a team of Trading Standards Officers and manage complex investigations, while acting as the Council’s Lead Officer for Weights & Measures.

You will work with Police, National Trading Standards and elected Members, overseeing enforcement activity and prosecutions.

Qualifications

• Significant Trading Standards/regulatory enforcement experience.
• Strong knowledge of Trading Standards, Consumer Protection and Weights & Measures legislation.
• Experience conducting complex investigations and preparing prosecution cases.
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.

About the Role

You will provide operational leadership to a team of Trading Standards professionals while also leading complex investigations and enforcement activity. The role will also act as the Council’s Lead Officer for Weights & Measures.

• Lead complex Trading Standards investigations and enforcement action.
• Prepare prosecution files and conduct interviews under caution.
• Oversee complaints, intelligence and case management.
• Act as Lead Officer for Weights & Measures.
• Work with Police, National Trading Standards, elected Members and other partners.

Requirements

• Trading Standards qualification (Diploma or equivalent).
• Significant Trading Standards/regulatory enforcement experience.
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of Trading Standards, Consumer Protection and Weights & Measures legislation.
• Experience conducting complex investigations and preparing prosecution cases.
• Authorised Trading Standards Practitioner, or ability to obtain authorisation.
• Accredited Financial Investigator (AFI) status would be ideal, but this is not essential.
