Job summary

Stonehouse Recruitment is seeking an experienced Trading Standards Officer for a 12-week contract with the Local Authority in the North West. The role involves statutory duties across Food Standards and Weights & Measures, including inspections, investigations and enforcement activities.

The candidate will mentor three apprentices and support team development while working 2 days in the office and 3 days from home. Relevant Local Authority trading standards experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Local Authority Trading Standards.
• Strong knowledge of Food Standards and Weights & Measures legislation.
• Experience carrying out inspections, investigations and enforcement actions.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out statutory Trading Standards functions across Food Standards and Weights & Measures.
• Undertaking inspections, investigations and enforcement activities in line with legislation.
• Investigating complaints and service requests relating to food standards and weights & measures and other trading standards matters.
• Assessing compliance with legislation and identifying enforcement actions.
• Preparing reports, notices, statements and other statutory documents.
• Providing professional advice to businesses and stakeholders on regulations.
• Coaching and mentoring three apprentices to support their development.
