Job summary

NetBet seeks a Trading & Risk Lead – Racing to define and execute pricing, exposure and customer-risk strategy for horse racing in the UK and Ireland, with greyhound racing as a broader remit.

The role blends hands-on racing pricing, liability management and data-driven analysis, partnering with external providers to challenge performance, improve margins and ensure responsible gambling standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in sportsbook trading, pricing or risk management with UK/Ireland horse racing exposure.
• Strong knowledge of horse racing markets, rules and pricing conventions.
• Experience in managing racing liabilities and customer risk.
• Proficient data analysis and use of pricing/risk platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute NetBet's racing trading and risk strategy for UK/Ireland markets.
• Own exposure, limits and margin management across racing products.
• Lead investigations into pricing anomalies or excessive exposure and implement corrective actions.
• Liaise with external racing, pricing and data providers to challenge performance and improve margins.
• Monitor risk controls and regulatory compliance related to customer-risk restrictions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• We are looking to recruit a Trading & Risk Lead – Racing to define and execute NetBet's trading and risk strategy for horse racing, with a strong focus on the UK and Irish markets, while also covering greyhound racing as part of the wider remit.
• This is a highly hands-on specialist role combining racing pricing and market knowledge, liability and exposure management, customer risk, competitor benchmarking and commercial performance.
• The successful candidate will own the exposure and volatility limits NetBet is prepared to carry across racing markets, monitor racing margin/GGR/NGR and apply strong racing and customer-risk judgement to identify potentially high-risk betting activity and determine appropriate limits or restrictions.
• The role will also act as the primary Trading & Risk contact for external racing, trading, pricing and data providers, actively reviewing and challenging their performance across pricing, margins, risk models, customer and market limits, liability controls and market coverage.
• Where pricing anomalies, excessive exposure or other trading/risk issues are identified, the Trading & Risk Lead will lead investigations, establish root causes and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.

Person Specifications:

• 3+ years' experience in sportsbook trading, pricing or risk management, with strong hands‑on UK and Irish horse-racing experience.
• Deep knowledge of horse racing, including form, ratings, going, non‑runners, ante‑post markets, Rule 4 and racing pricing conventions.
• Proven experience managing racing liabilities, exposure and customer risk.
• Strong understanding of racing customer profiling and ability to identify sophisticated, high‑risk or unusual betting behaviour.
• Strong understanding of racing pricing, margins and commercial performance.
• Hands‑on experience with racing trading/pricing platforms and risk‑management systems.
• Strong Excel and data‑analysis skills.
• Strong AI proficiency, with experience using AI and automation for analysis, monitoring, customer profiling or operational workflows.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to challenge external racing/trading providers.
• Solid understanding of Responsible Gambling, AML and regulatory requirements relevant to customer‑risk restrictions.
• London‑based/hybrid availability – minimum 3 days per week in the office.

Nice to Have

• Strong knowledge and trading experience of greyhound racing.
• Experience with Betfair Exchange trading, price‑taking or liquidity management.
• Experience managing or challenging third‑party racing, trading, pricing or data providers.
• Experience defining or building AI agents or automated trading/risk monitoring workflows.
• Familiarity with SQL, Python or BI tools.
• Exposure to machine learning, quantitative modelling or AI‑driven trading and risk tools.
• Experience mentoring junior racing traders or analysts.
