Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Trading/Risk Analyst with over 5 years of experience in the natural gas and power trading sector. The role involves supporting daily risk management operations, monitoring trading activities, and ensuring compliance with risk limits and controls. The candidate will provide insights and analysis to guide commercial decisions in a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Monitor and report daily market, credit, and operational risks related to gas trading portfolios.
2. Perform mark-to-market (MtM) valuations, P&L attribution, and risk metrics such as VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
3. Collaborate with trading, scheduling, and commercial teams to understand deal structures and exposures.
4. Validate and maintain pricing curves, volatilities, and valuation models for physical and financial instruments.
5. Ensure accurate trade capture and position reporting; resolve discrepancies and coordinate with middle and back office teams.
6. Assist in developing and refining risk policies, procedures, and controls in line with governance and regulations.
7. Support regulatory reporting and audit processes (e.g., FERC, CFTC, REMIT, Dodd-Frank).

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; Master’s or CFA is a plus.
2. Over 5 years of experience in risk management or middle office roles within an energy trading firm, preferably in gas and/or power.
3. Strong understanding of energy markets, trading instruments, and risk drivers.
4. Experience with ETRM systems (e.g., Endur, Allegro, RightAngle) and advanced Excel; Python or SQL skills are advantageous.
5. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
6. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
