ASDA is seeking a Trading Assistant in the Soft Drinks category to join the Buying team at Asda House in Leeds. You will support day-to-day category management, ensure accurate product data, and help deliver promotions, pricing, and launches to shoppers across our stores.
The role requires strong numerical and analytical skills, proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
Competitive salary plus benefits.
Soft Drinks is one of the UK's largest and most dynamic grocery categories, driven by constant innovation, strong consumer demand, major brand investment, and fast-changing customer trends. The category includes carbonated drinks, energy drinks, sports drinks, bottled water, dilutes, juices and functional beverages.
As a Trading Assistant in Soft Drinks, you will support one of the fastest-moving categories in grocery. You will provide vital support to the Trading team, ensuring products are set up for customers to buy, promotional activity is delivered accurately, funding and commercial plans are executed effectively. You will play a key role in managing day-to-day category administration, supplier communications, systems maintenance, and reporting, helping the team respond quickly to changing customer and market demands.
This is a fast-paced role requiring exceptional organisation, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
We're looking for a highly organised and proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, commercial environment. You'll be naturally detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and comfortable working to tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
You will have strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and support trading decisions. Confident using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications, you'll be comfortable working with large volumes of information and producing clear, actionable insights.
A strong communicator, you'll be able to build effective relationships with suppliers and a wide range of internal stakeholders, working collaboratively to deliver category objectives. You'll also possess a problem-solving mindset, taking ownership of challenges and responding quickly to changing priorities.
Ideally, you'll have previous experience within a retail, buying, trading or FMCG environment, with an understanding of category management. Experience working within trading or account management would be advantageous but above all, you'll be commercially curious, eager to learn, resilient under pressure and excited by the opportunity to support one of the most dynamic and fast-moving categories in grocery retail.
