Traders Assistant (Rates/Structured Rates) – Tier 1 Hedge Fund

This alternative fund manager combines relative value and direct trading through a global macro strategy, aiming to generate outstanding, uncorrelated returns that outperform benchmarks. Applicants must demonstrate excellent educational qualifications, including at least a 2.1 degree in a STEM subject from a Russell Group university or an international equivalent, along with strong A-Levels or equivalents. Relevant experience in a Traders Assistant role is essential, preferably from a buyside firm, though sell-side candidates may also be considered. Strong knowledge of derivatives, especially complex products or fixed income, and broad understanding of P&L, product control, blotter management, and technical middle office and risk functions are required. The ideal candidate will have significant rates or structured rates experience from a front office environment.

Candidates who do not meet the educational criteria may still be considered for other roles within the hedge fund community. A detailed job description is available upon review of a relevant CV. Responsibilities include:

  1. Daily blotter management and P&L/risk reporting (both close and live)
  2. Booking transactions and understanding risks and pricing of complex products
  3. Monitoring expiries, fixings, futures rolls, and analyzing associated P&L/risk changes
  4. Providing first-line support to Investment Officers and Portfolio Traders
  5. Driving process improvements with SME knowledge
  6. Monitoring offsetting transactions and applying ISDA protocols
  7. Resolving administrator and counterparty queries
