Circa £42,000 per annum (dependent on skills & experience) + Cash for cars allowance

As a Trade Effluent Regulatory Scientist, you will regulate non-domestic discharges to ensure environmental and social prosperity in the region. You will travel across South Lincolnshire and the wider region, reporting to the Trade Effluent Regulation Manager, working with a team to regulate trade effluent customers and investigate pollution incidents.

Duties include:

  • Protecting the environment from non-domestic discharges
  • Setting up and reviewing discharge consents
  • Applying scientific reasoning for effective regulation
  • Enforcing regulations and gathering evidence for legal proceedings
  • Investigating pollution incidents and reviewing catchment areas
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance
  • Collaborating with scientists and operational teams
  • Contributing to regional policies and standards

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific field
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel across the region
  • Knowledge of water recycling and sewage treatment processes is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders
  • Proficiency in IT and data analysis
  • Confidence in regulation and customer service
  • Understanding of health and safety standards
  • Self-management skills for workload prioritization
