Job Description:

Circa £42,000 per annum (dependent on skills & experience) + Cash for cars allowance

Permanent/Full-time/37 hours

Role Overview:

As a Trade Effluent Regulatory Scientist, you will regulate non-domestic discharges to ensure environmental and social prosperity. You will travel across South Lincolnshire and the wider region, reporting to the Trade Effluent Regulation Manager, and work with a team regulating trade effluent customers and investigating pollution incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Protecting the environment from non-domestic discharges
  • Setting up and reviewing discharge consents
  • Applying scientific reasoning for regulation
  • Enforcing regulations and gathering evidence for legal processes
  • Investigating pollution incidents and reviewing catchment areas
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance
  • Collaborating with scientists and operational teams
  • Contributing to policy development

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific field
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel
  • Knowledge of water recycling and sewage treatment processes (advantageous)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Relationship management skills
  • Proficiency in IT and data analysis
  • Ability to challenge and provide excellent customer service
  • Understanding of Health & Safety principles
  • Self-management and workload prioritization skills
