Job summary

Thames Water, the UK’s largest water and wastewater company, is seeking a Trade Effluent Billing Technologist to support accurate billing for non-domestic customers. The hybrid role is a 10–12 month secondment, focusing on resolving queries and ensuring regulatory compliance under the Water Industry Act 1991 and MOSL Market Codes.

You will build relationships with retailers, deliver excellent customer service, and help maintain Thames Water’s reputation while handling data and billing processes.

Are you interested in developing new skills? We're looking for a Trade Effluent Billing Technologist to join our team, supporting the accurate and fair billing of trade effluent services for our business customers.

What you’ll be doing as a Trade Effluent Billing Technologist

• Making sure Trade Effluent charges are calculated and raised correctly for non-domestic customers.
• Communicating with retailers, other water companies, and internal teams to resolve billing queries and ensure compliance.
• Responding to retailer enquiries within set service levels, providing clear and accurate information.
• Supporting the Trade Effluent team in meeting regulatory obligations under the Water Industry Act 1991 and MOSL Market Codes.
• Building strong working relationships with retailers to improve performance measures (such as BRMEX scores).
• Delivering excellent customer service to retailers and customers, helping to maintain Thames Water’s reputation.

Hybrid role

Please note this is a secondment position of 10-12 months.

What you should bring to the role

• Experience in customer-facing roles and delivering quality service. Strong communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills across different stakeholders.
• Confidence working with data and interpreting written information.
• IT literate, comfortable with Microsoft Office.
