Job Title: Trackside Electronics and Systems Engineer, Milton Keynes
About Us:
Nissan Formula E Team has been a competitive force in motorsport and the FIA Formula E World Championship for many years. We are seeking a Trackside Electronics and Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to our ongoing development.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure the proper functioning of data acquisition systems, car sensors, and their calibration.
- Prepare projects and calibration kits for operating the cars and simulators.
- Analyze and interpret technical data from the car, embedded systems, and Power Unit.
- Communicate key parameters effectively with stakeholders (mechanics, performance engineers, track engineers, Power Unit engineers).
- Guarantee the reliability and performance of onboard and offboard systems.
- Prepare documentation and procedures for trackside work.
- Draft post-race reports, perform analyses for continuous improvement, and log issues.
- Resolve assigned issues.
- Develop and maintain programs for data processing to improve vehicle reliability and performance.
- Manage data backups on the server.
- Plan work on the car considering constraints from mechanics and external participants.
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders at the track.
- Maintain and verify team equipment.
- Assist DIL simulator sessions within scope.
- Execute procedures during track testing sessions.
- Implement and ensure proper use of specific IT systems (e.g., Atlas, SM, TPMS).
- Monitor and utilize the traction battery properly.
- Develop products and processes to enhance tasks (e.g., system test benches).
- Comply with Formula E regulations and internal policies.
- Undergo training and follow safety rules.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- Strong understanding of modern electrical or hybrid systems (batteries, electric motors).
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and technologies (CAN, control electronics, power electronics, Peak, DSpace).
- Programming and IT knowledge (Matlab or equivalent, Python) is a plus.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Background in electronics and/or embedded systems.
- Mandatory trackside experience in categories like F1, FE, LMDh/LMH, top-level F2 or GT, IndyCar.
- Willingness to travel worldwide for 10-15 race events per year.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
