Job summary

Network Rail is seeking a Section Supervisor - Track to join our team at Orpington DU. You will lead weekend works and abnormal operations, coordinating Track, Welding, and ETM disciplines to ensure safe, efficient maintenance and renewal across the station area.

You will gain management experience by rostering planned works, monitoring staff fatigue, and developing team competencies while ensuring high quality delivery and compliance with safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising worksites and ensuring safe, efficient delivery.
• Knowledge of resource planning and work organisation processes.
• Understanding of track inspection, maintenance, renewal, and asset condition assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with relevant standards, procedures, and instructions.
• Awareness of cost and waste control techniques.
• Ability to promote and embed safe working behaviours.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to coach, influence, and develop others.
• Full driving licence and willingness to drive as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead Teams: Take charge of weekend works and abnormal operations, overseeing or assisting teams to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
• Plan Effectively: Work with multiple disciplines to plan and deliver work safely. Coordinate machinery and resources.
• Gain Management Experience: Create rosters for planned works, manage staff fatigue, and assess team competencies.
• Supervise and check the quality of work, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Prepare work plans and Safe System of Work documents.
