Are you looking to play a key role in delivering some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects? Our Consents team sits within the Infrastructure Division and provides town planning and consenting advice across a diverse range of sectors, including rail, highways, energy, electricity transmission, renewable energy, and commercial infrastructure.
We are seeking a motivated and commercially aware Planner / Senior Planner to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, helping clients navigate the planning process and secure the consents needed to bring major developments forward. This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team across a range of infrastructure projects, including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), while developing your professional expertise and contributing to the continued growth of our successful business.
We're looking for a motivated town planner who is passionate about helping to deliver major infrastructure projects and enjoys working in a fast‑paced, client‑focused environment. We anticipate this role will suit individuals with around 2‑3 years of experience for the Planner position, and 4+ years for the Senior Planner role.
You will bring essential experience of town planning processes, legislation, and regulations (Town and Country Planning Act). You will have experience assessing sites for planning constraints, identifying risks and opportunities, as well as preparing and submitting various types of applications and submissions. A desire to learn more about infrastructure planning and other consenting regimes is important.
Experience within sectors such as transport, energy, electricity transmission, or renewable energy would be beneficial. Exposure to NSIPs and the DCO process is advantageous but not essential.
Most importantly, you should be able to build trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams, manage competing priorities, and communicate complex issues clearly, concisely, and confidently. Whether working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team, you should be proactive, commercially aware, and committed to delivering high‑quality outcomes. Above all, you should enjoy solving complex challenges, embracing collaboration, and contributing to the growth of our Infrastructure Consents team.
