Job description

Build the world you want to live in with a career in the infrastructure property sector.

Are you looking to play a key role in delivering some of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects?

Our Consents team sits in within the Infrastructure Division and provides town planning and consenting advice across a diverse range of sectors, including rail, highways, energy, electricity transmission, renewable energy and commercial infrastructure. We are seeking a motivated and commercially aware Planner / Senior Planner to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, helping clients navigate the planning process and secure the consents needed to bring major developments forward.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team across a range of infrastructure projects, including Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), while developing your professional expertise and contributing to the continued growth of our successful business.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development and delivery of town planning and consenting strategies for major infrastructure projects across the UK.
  • Prepare, review and submit a range of consent applications, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Transport and Works Act Orders (TWAOs), Section 36 applications and Town and Country Planning Act (TCPA) applications.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in line with programme requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, statutory consultees and regulatory bodies throughout the planning and consenting process.
  • Support project management activities, including programme management, risk identification and reporting.
  • Assist with public consultation and stakeholder engagement activities associated with infrastructure and renewable energy projects.
  • Provide planning and consenting advice across a range of infrastructure sectors.
  • Prepare planning reports, consent documentation, evidence submissions and examination materials.
  • Contribute to business development activities and help build long-term client relationships.
What will it take to be successful?

We're looking for a motivated town planner who is passionate about helping to deliver major infrastructure projects and enjoys working in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. We anticipate this role will suit individuals with around 2-3 years experience for Planner, and 4+ years for Senior Planner.

You’ll bring essential experience of town planning processes, legislation and regulations (Town and Country Planning Act). You will have experience of assessing sites for planning constraints, identifying risks and opportunities as well as preparing and submitting various types of applications and submissions.

You will have a desire to learn more about infrastructure planning and other consenting regimes. Experience within sectors such as transport, energy, electricity transmission or renewable energy would be beneficial. Exposure to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) and the Development Consent Order (DCO) process would be beneficial but is not essential.

Most important is your ability to build trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams, manage competing priorities and communicate complex issues clearly, concisely and confidently.

Whether working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll be proactive, commercially aware and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes.

Above all, you’ll be someone who enjoys solving complex challenges, embraces collaboration and is keen to contribute to the continued success and growth of our Infrastructure Consents team.
