We are seeking a talented Town Planner to join their Edinburgh office and contribute to a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects across England and Scotland. From strategic developments like new Garden Villages to regeneration and commercial projects, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the built environment while advancing your career in a supportive and collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

As a Town Planner, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality planning consultancy services in compliance with RTPI standards.
  • Manage planning applications, reporting, and client interactions.
  • Support project delivery across a variety of sectors and scales.
  • Travel to project sites and client meetings across the UK.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to achieve wider business objectives.
  • Mentor and support junior planners in their professional development.
  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and business development.
Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • MRTPI or MRICS qualified, or over 3 years of relevant planning experience.
  • Strong knowledge of both English and Scottish planning systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence in advising clients and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing project timelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • UK driving licence (or in the process of obtaining one).
Day-to-Day

Your typical day as a Town Planner will include:

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and reports.
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities.
  • Conducting site visits and attending client meetings.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Supporting junior team members and contributing to their development.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
