Job Title: Town Planner - Strategic Planning

Penguin Recruitment is supporting Story Homes in their search for a Strategic Planner to join their growing team.

Penguin Recruitment is supporting one of the UK's leading private housebuilders as they strengthen their Strategic Land function.

The Role

As a Strategic Planner, you will support the Senior Strategic Planning Manager in promoting a portfolio of strategic land sites. Your responsibilities include preparing planning strategies, promoting sites through the Local Plan process, and securing planning permissions to help deliver 60% of homes via strategic land.

Key Responsibilities Include:

1. Undertaking planning appraisals for new land opportunities
2. Assisting in the preparation of planning promotion strategies and applications
3. Engaging with Local Plans, consultations, and monitoring housing land supply
4. Coordinating consultants, managing budgets, and building stakeholder relationships
5. Supporting landowner communications and monitoring the strategic land bank
6. Providing planning input to secure new land opportunities
7. Keeping up to date with planning policy and best practices

About You:

• RTPI-accredited degree in town planning or a related discipline
• Minimum 2 years' experience in planning (housebuilding, consultancy, land promoter, or local authority)
• Strong knowledge of planning policy and large residential scheme processes
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel

Desirable:

• Working towards RTPI accreditation
• Experience preparing Local Plan representations and planning applications
• Strong research and report-writing skills
