Job summary

PropSource Consulting is seeking a Town Planner to work from Edinburgh within a growing planning and development team. You will advise clients, prepare reports, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across varied sectors in Scotland.

The role offers opportunities to work on diverse projects, engage with clients and authorities, and progress within the firm while maintaining professional development and strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• RTPI chartered status or on route to achieving it.
• Minimum two years of experience in planning.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including report writing.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ambition to progress within a reputable consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional planning advice to clients and represent them at meetings.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate planning reports, applications, appeals, and representations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop planning strategies and project programmes.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and local authorities.
• Assist with business development and contribute to fee proposals and marketing.
• Maintain CPD to keep professional knowledge up to date.
• Undertake other duties as reasonably required.

Role: Town Planner

Location: Edinburgh

Salary: DOE

An opportunity has opened within a growing planning and development consultancy team working across a broad mix of sectors including residential, living, retail & leisure, commercial, mixed-use, and higher education.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the Scottish market, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging directly with clients, consultants, and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional planning advice to clients and represent them at meetings.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate planning reports, applications, appeals, and representations for submission.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop planning strategies, prepare project programmes, and assess supporting information.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Support business development initiatives by identifying new opportunities, contributing to fee proposals, and assisting with firm-wide marketing efforts.
• Maintain and enhance professional knowledge through ongoing continuing professional development (CPD).
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as reasonably requested.
