Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd is currently seeking a Town Planner for its Bristol team. The role offers a clear path for career progression within an established consultancy, with exposure to diverse projects and clients. Hybrid working is provided, with 3 days in the office and 2 from home.

The successful candidate will have a planning degree, UK planning knowledge and experience with submissions. MRTPI status is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or related subject.
  • Relevant experience in planning consultancy, local authority, or similar.
  • Good knowledge of the UK planning system and policy.
  • Experience preparing and submitting planning applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ideally MRTPI status.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications.
  • Managing applications from instruction to determination.
  • Providing planning advice to clients and supporting proposals.
  • Preparing appraisals and undertaking policy research.
  • Liaising with clients, authorities, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Attending site visits, meetings and planning committees as required.
  • Supporting seniors and contributing to a varied project portfolio.

I'm currently working with a leading multidisciplinary property consultancy that is looking to add a Town Planner to its Bristol team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planner looking to take the next step in their career, joining an established consultancy with a varied project portfolio and the opportunity to work alongside experienced planning professionals. The role offers exposure to a broad range of clients and development schemes, while providing plenty of scope for professional and career development.

The Role
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications.
  • Managing planning applications from initial instruction through to determination.
  • Providing planning advice to clients and supporting development proposals.
  • Preparing planning appraisals and undertaking policy research.
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Attending site visits, meetings and planning committees where required.
  • Supporting senior colleagues and contributing to the delivery of a varied project portfolio.
About You
  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related subject.
  • Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or similar environment.
  • Good knowledge of the UK planning system and planning policy.
  • Experience preparing and submitting planning applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
