Job description

Based in Kent (with travel across Kent and East Sussex)

Full-time or part-time | Hybrid working available

Competitive salary, dependent on experience

Are you a qualified Town Planner looking for your next opportunity in a rural-focused planning environment?

We’re looking for a motivated and capable Town Planner with 2–8 years of experience to join a friendly and supportive planning team working across Kent and East Sussex. Our work is predominantly in rural areas, supporting landowners, farmers, and rural businesses with a wide range of planning applications and development proposals.

You’ll be involved in preparing and submitting planning applications, appeals, appraisals, and strategic advice — often in the context of agricultural and countryside-related development. This is a role that blends technical planning expertise with a practical, solutions-focused approach.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2 to 8 years’ experience in town planning (private or public sector)
  • Ideally with LPA (local planning authority) experience
  • MRTPI status or on the pathway to achieving it
  • A completed RTPI-accredited Masters (or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (site visits are essential)
  • A genuine interest in rural planning and supporting farming communities
  • Work on diverse and interesting rural projects
  • Hybrid working offered — flexible arrangements considered
  • Friendly, collaborative team environment
  • Competitive salary tailored to your experience and qualifications
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career development
Whether you're in the public sector looking for a change, or already in private practice seeking more rural-focused work, this is a great opportunity to grow your planning career in a flexible and rewarding setting.
