Job description

Vacancy for a Town Clerk / Responsible Finance Officer

Westhoughton Town Council, in a popular and thriving town, are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Town Clerk / RFO to guide and support the council with its legal and financial responsibilities as it serves the community.

On Offer:
  1. Part time flexible hours (20 hours a week), with attendance at evening meetings (on average 2 a month) and other civic events, some of which are at the weekend.
  2. The salary is based on the National Association of Local Councils pay scale and is dependent on qualifications and experience. The rate is between LC2 23 (£17.29 per hr) and LC2 28 (£19.66 per hr), with 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a pension with GMPF.
  3. A start date of 1st September 2025 to allow a handover.
Qualifications and Skills:

It is desirable that the applicant has some role-specific qualifications (preferably CiLCA), although this isn’t necessary, and a basic knowledge of bookkeeping is also essential. This position would suit someone with vision who is creative, highly organised, motivated, and a good communicator.
