Salary:
NJC salary scale LC2a - 2b, pts 18-28, £30,559 - £37,938 (pro-rata)
This is for a CiLCA/equivalent qualification, salary starts at pt. 24, £34,314 pro rata).

Summary Description:

The Town Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) will be the Proper Officer of Yarm Town Council, with a statutory duty to carry out all functions of the Council, including serving and issuing legal notices, and ensuring effective administration within the legal framework. The post-holder will ensure the Council's instructions are carried out.

Responsibilities include providing policy advice, managing finances, administration, forward planning, and projects. The Council manages an annual budget, reserves, and follows local government accounting procedures. The role involves responding to residents, liaising with community partners, working closely with town Councillors, and delivering projects aligned with council decisions to support the town and its residents.

The role requires taking initiative in day-to-day operations, managing council sites and assets such as Willey Flatts and Snaith's Field parks, Yarm Cemetery and Chapel, Town Hall and Heritage Centre, Yarm allotments, The Rookery, floral displays, town benches, and organizing town events.
