Job summary

Glaitness Primary School is seeking a Toothbrushing Supervisor for 6 hours per week during term time. The role is temporary to 16 August 2027 and reports to the Head Teacher.

The position includes supervising children brushing their teeth as part of the NHS Orkney Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme, with support from the NHS Orkney Oral Health Team. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and be able to engage children to develop lifelong oral hygiene habits.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills required.
• PVG Level 2 Disclosure is required for regulated work with children.

Responsibilities

• Organise and supervise children brushing teeth as part of NHS Orkney Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme.
• Supervise individuals while they brush; encourage good brushing habits.
• Regular contact with NHS Orkney Oral Health Team while working on-site.

Toothbrushing Supervisor

£29,909 – £30,237 pro rata

£15.50 – £15.67 per hour

The above amounts include Distant Islands Allowance.

You will be reporting to the Head Teacher.

Your working pattern is Monday to Friday. We are happy to talk flexible working, where possible.

We are looking for enthusiastic, adaptable people with good communication skills to join our committed staff team.

The post will involve organising and supervising children brushing their teeth as part of the NHS Orkney Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme. You will work on your own supervising children brushing their teeth, but you will have regular contact with the NHS Orkney Oral Health Team. While your role is not to brush children’s teeth you will be there to encourage the children to brush their teeth well and develop this important lifetime habit.

This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG Scheme membership in respect of regulated work with children.
