Job description

Rockstar North is on the lookout for a Tools Programmer who is passionate about supporting and further developing a world class audio tool suite.

This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based in Rockstar’s state‑of‑the‑art game development studio in Edinburgh, Scotland.

WHAT WE DO
  • The Rockstar Audio Programming team is responsible for the technology that powers the sound effects, music and dialogue in our games.
  • We’re committed to creating incredibly immersive interactive audio, pushing the sonic boundaries of what’s possible in our medium.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain an in-house audio toolset, which supports the creation and implementation of audio assets found in-game.
  • Closely collaborate with other members of the Audio team and the wider Rockstar Tools team.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant technologies, modern UI standards, and drive their adoption within the toolset.
  • Balance meeting short-term user needs with long-term development of the audio tool suite; identify opportunities to optimise user workflows.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a mixed-discipline team.
  • Ability to work within a schedule and deliver effectively to deadlines.
PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.

  • An interest in games and interactive sound/music.
  • Familiarity with commercial audio content creation software.
  • Experience of intuitive user interface design and implementation for complex data.
  • Knowledge of audio synthesis and DSP.
  • C++ experience.
  • WPF experience.
