Job summary

BAE Systems is seeking a detail tool designer to develop concepts into products and airframe assembly tools. The role requires proficiency in CATIA V5 and understanding geometric dimensioning.

The ideal candidate will collaborate across various engineering disciplines and possess a solid background in detail tool design, particularly in the air sector. A full-time onsite commitment, including 4 days onsite and early finishing on Fridays, is expected.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of detail tool design processes, preferably within the air sector.
• Proficient in the use of CATIA V5.
• Thorough understanding of interpreting and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

Role Description

Detail tool design from the development of the concept through to issue for detail products and assembly of airframe related parts.

• Proven experience of detail tool design processes - preferably within the air sector.
• Proficient in the use of CATIA V5
• Thorough understanding of interpreting and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
• Knowledge and understanding of/ability to apply external and internal company standards that govern tooling activities
• The ability to generate solutions for complex problems from concept through to actualisation
• Ability to work with multiple teams across different engineering disciplines within the company (eg design, toolroom, other process development teams within FalconWorks) as well as external suppliers.
• Applicants must be comfortable with the uncertainty and volatility associated with working on an early
• Desirable knowledge and experience of internal company systems such as SAPCAMS & PLM

Knowledge

The ideal candidate should have previous knowledge of developing composite detail tooling and elastomer forming.
