Tooling Technician

Salary: £42,000 - £44,000

Location: Skelmersdale

Shift: 2x Shift (Earlies/Lates)

gap technical is proud to represent this global manufacturing business in their search for a Tooling Technician to work at their facility near Skelmersdale.

Performance Objectives
  1. Switching tools in and out of Injection Moulding machines
  2. General operation of machines
  3. Maintenance of Injection Moulding machines
  4. General maintenance work including cleaning and polishing tools
  5. Maintain, repair, modify, and improve production related to Injection Moulding, focusing on efficiency, reliability, and quality
  6. Investigate and resolve tool and machine related problems
  7. Compile maintenance records for each tool to provide a detailed history of work carried out
  8. Identify root causes of technical problems to provide effective solutions
  9. Recommend changes to components, tooling, or related equipment
  10. Possess knowledge of mechanical engineering and experience in factory/manufacturing environments
Person Specification
  • Experience with and understanding of Injection Moulding within the plastics industry
  • Knowledge of injection moulding processes
  • Understanding of tool design and ability to interpret tool drawings
  • Ability to work to high tolerances in a precision engineering environment
  • Understanding key process techniques related to Injection Moulding
  • Effective communication skills with external toolmakers for repairs and new tooling
  • IT proficiency
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, including centre lathe, milling machines, and surface grinder
  • Willingness to progress and eventually lead a team
