Job summary

Mewer manufacturing facility in Staffordshire seeks a Tool Maker to support high‑volume production. You will handle tool maintenance, PM scheduling, and tool handling while ensuring safety and compliance with company standards.

Flexibility for double days with potential move to 3 shift rotation is expected. Familiarity with injection moulding processes is advantageous as you maintain tooling and assist with process improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in tool making within high-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with injection moulding processes.
• Able to work double days with potential to move to 3 shift rotation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe use of handling equipment and confirm SWL compliance.
• Inspect lifting gear before use and report non-conformities.
• Maintain PM schedule on IMM tooling and downstream tooling.
• Arrange/assist shift cover with opposite tooling engineers during holidays.
• Support extra shifts or weekend work during peak production.
• Add learning points to each PM procedure (e.g., core pin to sleeve fit).
• Maintain tooling cost and downtime records; update tool room log.
• Keep tool tag system updated and compliant with standards.
• Ensure tooling fits local machinery and complies with company standards.
• Confirm feasibility of engineering changes related to IMM tooling.
• Manage storage/layout for IMM tools; maintain tool loan agreements.
• Prepare tools for safe transport; ensure availability of critical spares.
• Attend daily reviews with IMM techs and tooling manager; identify root causes and PFU proposals.
• Support trials onsite and offsite as needed.
• Maintain datum packs for all tools per GA-SP p06.
