Job summary

Meridian Business Support Ltd. is seeking a Tooling Engineer for our Exeter-based operations. The role focuses on reading CAD drawings and producing tooling solutions for customers.

A strong engineering background, ideally with an HNC or graduate level, and practical toolmaking experience are required. The position blends office and shop floor work with emphasis on continuous improvement, production planning, and root cause analysis to reduce scrap and drive quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in tooling engineering or toolmaking with a strong practical application.
• Ability to read CAD drawings and translate designs into tooling solutions.
• Strong analytical and database skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Receive CAD drawings from customers and engineer models for testing.
• Drive continuous improvement in production areas to meet customer designs and differentiation.
• Use production planning, control and manufacturing system knowledge to reduce scrap and rework via root cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing problems and perform root cause analysis for CNC machining, CAD and 3D modelling.
